Devlog 6: Berry Busy Babbos

It’s been about a month since the last devlog and it’s probably been our craziest month so far. We’ve posted about some of the stuff that’s happened, but we’ll recap everything here:

Our first ever GDC!

Ben (@perplamps) here, writing during the fourth hour of our plane ride back across the country. We’re coming back from the Game Developers Conference, which is a huge all-week event in San Francisco where people in the game dev community run talks, show off their games, schedule a billion meetings, and go to way too many parties.

I figured I’d do a bit of a recap of our experience and some random post-GDC thoughts since it was Rebecca’s and my first ever GDC (and she’s asleep)!

Devlog 5: A pretty good one I think

This month has been a bit less focused on visual assets and more focused on core gameplay systems. Here’s what we worked on:

We've taken the past month to regroup a bit and polish some of our core gameplay, as well as level up our community-building efforts.

New name, same game

First off, I want to thank everyone for being so supportive and positive about our work. We never expected to get this far in such a short amount of time, and it’s really thanks to all of you for wanting to be a part of the world we’re building.

Part of getting a little bigger is having to worry about all sorts of boring legal junk like trademarks. To that end, you might have noticed we have a new name...

So it turns out I’m not very good at writing devlogs. It’s been far too long! I’ve gotten way more done since the last devlog than could fit in a single reasonable writeup. We’re talking tons of new characters, new moblets, new buildings, new systems, new everything!

What a nutty month!

I started Moblets as a little break from my other game-in-progress, IT Simulator, but now it’s taken on a big ole’ life of its own.

Here’s the premise: Farming… plus… creatures. Imagine Harvest Moon meets Pokemon. It just seems so obvious!
